A Simple Routine for Confident Healing

Start with Clean Hands

This is your first and most important step. Always wash your hands thoroughly before any contact with your piercing. Dry them with a paper towel to avoid stray lint.

Let Saline Spray Do the Work

Use your complimentary NeilMed Aftercare Spray twice daily. A gentle spray directly onto the piercing is all it needs—no wiping or cotton swabs required. Let it air dry naturally. This single, sterile product is designed to cleanse without irritation.

Listen to Your Piercer’s Guidance

A lobe piercing isn’t the same as a cartilage piercing. Your LABRET piercer will provide specific instructions for your unique piercing. Keep your ear piercing aftercare sheet handy as a simple, daily reminder.

Sleep Smart

Protect your new piercing while you rest. A travel pillow or our dedicated Piercing Pillow creates a comfortable space for your ear, preventing pressure and allowing it to heal undisturbed.

Support Your Body’s Natural Healing

Staying hydrated and nourished helps your body do its best work. Think of it as foundational care from the inside out.

Notice the Subtle Changes

A quick, daily check during cleaning is all it takes. Mild redness is normal at first. It can be helpful to take a photo every few days to track your progress quietly.

Sleep Smart

Try to sleep on your other side or your back. A little extra mindfulness while you sleep prevents pressure and irritation, making your mornings more comfortable.

What to Avoid

Unnecessary Touching
Even with clean hands, touching introduces bacteria and disrupts the delicate healing tissue. The best policy is to let it be.

Harsh Products
Avoid alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and ointments. These can strip moisture and harm new skin cells. Sterile saline is the gentlest, most effective choice.

Changing Jewelry Too Soon
Healing takes time. Even if it feels fine, the tissue underneath is still delicate. Wait for your piercer’s confirmation before making a switch.

Submerging in Water
For the first few weeks, it’s best to avoid pools, hot tubs, and lakes. Standing water can introduce bacteria, and chlorine is overly drying.

Sleeping Directly on the Piercing
Consistent pressure can lead to irritation. A small adjustment to your sleep setup, like using a pillow with a center hole, makes a significant difference in comfort.

Using Cotton Swabs
Loose fibers can catch on jewelry and cause irritation. If cleansing is needed, let the shower water rinse the area gently after your saline spray.

Ignoring Your Concerns
Trust your intuition. Persistent throbbing, yellow/green discharge, or increased swelling are signs to connect with us. We’re here to help navigate any questions.
